This hand-crafted necklace is likely Navajo, but features intricate micro-inlay more typically seen in Zuni jewelry. Twelve oval tabs, each marked "STERLING" on their backs, are what make this necklace so special and unusual. Each tab has border inlay each approximately 21-millimeters by 15-millimeters in diameter, are inset with an elevated center oval tab, each 7-millimeters by 11-millimeters in diameter, feature opal, blue and green turquoise, mother-of-pearl, lapis lazuli and others in an intricate micro-inlay. This necklace, 23-inches long, is composed of sterling silver 6-millimeter darkened bench beads, strung on foxtail chain. The sterling silver Naja is an additional 2.5 inches in diameter. The necklace closes with a sterling silver hook clasp latched into a circle. The total weight is 107.6 grams. It comes in excellent condition. |
